Katy ISD’s Financial Services Department has once again earned the Award of Excellence in Financial Management from the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO), recognizing the district’s strong commitment to transparency, accountability and best practices in financial stewardship.

Katy ISD wrestling reached championship heights this season as Katy High School’s Emily Beltran and Mayde Creek High School’s Stephanie Lopez captured UIL state titles, delivering two of the most dominant performances in program history.

Hundreds of students, families, educators and community leaders gathered Monday evening as Katy ISD officially dedicated James and Mitzi Cross Elementary, honoring two lifelong educators whose impact spans generations of Katy students and schools.

Katy ISD continues to rank among Texas’ highest-performing districts, with 31 campuses named to the 2025 Texas Honor Roll for outstanding academic achievement and success in closing student performance gaps. The District also earned the Honor Roll distinction. The recognition places Katy ISD schools among the state’s top performers in advancing equitable outcomes for all learners.

Seven Lakes High School Senior forward Madison “Madi” Carlton broke and set multiple milestones and records as a four-year starter for the Spartans girls basketball team. Shattered records, scoring titles and double doubles are great motivators, but what drives Carlton the most is competing, winning and creating a legacy all her own.
